Our group aims to investigate and adapt the potential of digital tools (e.g., mHealth, eHealth and VR) to improve assessment, adherence, access and engagement of evidence-based psychological therapies. We design virtual environments and on-line psychological interventions adapted to specific target populations (e.g., young people, carers, patients with specific mental health disorders) and carefully test interventions, provide access and offer training to mental health professionals.
Our research on youth mental health strives to improve the understanding of mental health problems at this very important stage of life. We are committed to prevention and social recovery specifically of young people with early psychosis, as well as to providing psychoeducation and support-programs to relatives and caregivers.
The Virtual Reality (VR) research lab enables the use of digital technologies, specifically VR, to explore mechanisms underlying the onset and maintenance of mental health disorders. The lab combines fixed VR stations with portable VR headsets, physiological testing (including wearables) and programming expertise.
