Evidence-based diagnostics
We believe that there can be no evidence-based treatment without proper diagnostics. We therefore develop and evaluate diagnostic tools with a focus on both diagnostic interviews and questionnaires over the lifespan. Our instruments capture positive aspects of child and adolescent mental health as well as psychopathology and clinical diagnoses according to DSM and ICD. We investigate psychometric properties and acceptance of our instruments in clinical and nonclinical populations. In addition to making our instruments available for free under open-access licenses (https://fbz-bochum.de/open-access), we develop e-learning courses to disseminate evidence-based diagnostics in routine clinical care. Towards this end we conduct studies into therapists’ prototypes, use of heuristics and under- and overdiagnosis.
