Broad interdisciplinary research agenda
The research roadmap of the FBZ's six departments covers the entire life span. The focus is on the etiology of mental health and disorders in interaction with psychological, social and biological factors, and on improving prevention, diagnosis and treatment. Our mission is to implement a translation and backtranslation strategy and to incorporate best practice through participatory research. We are committed to open science and we are part of the German Reproducibility Network (GRN). Our results are available as Open Access material for science, practice and the general public. We receive third-party funding from the Alexander Humboldt Foundation, the German Research Foundation (DFG), the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and other major funding institutions. From 2021, the FBZ coordinates the Bochum-Marburg site, one of the six sites of the German Centre for Mental Health (DZPG), which brings excellence in mental health research.
